You could let it do the work during the night when you are sleeping. You could also make it as a schedule task and by doing this you will let the system defrag the disk for example every week on time that is good for you. Keep in mind that your system partition should have a top priory when beginning defragmentation. Today viruses are a major problem when talking about computer systems because they could damage your data and software beyond repair. You should always keep an antivirus program running on the system especially when large amounts of data passes by your system. Everything - even the data accessed by your browser on the web is a potential holder of a malicious code. You don't need to think about protection all the time but keeping an antivirus running and updating it regularly could safe you time and important data. Sometimes when you store important information you may even want to ask professionals to keep you safe because it is impossible for everyone to know even the main principals on how viruses works and how to keep yourself save from them.
